Staff investment remains a priority at Morrison Freight – after all, it’s the team which makes the company. Here, Director Darren Ryan explains how the freight forwarder is helping staff develop their careers.
We come to work every day to provide our clients with the high-quality services they expect. So, it is only right our team has the opportunities they need to grow.
At Morrison Freight, we truly believe in staff investment, and we regularly look into ways to build on that.
Since May, we have been funding training for six members of the team through Lighthouse Group‘s Team Leader/Supervisor Level 3 course. It aims to give them the skills to take on supervisor and management roles.
The training has allowed the team to recognise behaviours in themselves and others they have not thought about before. And it has allowed them to play to everyone’s strengths – therefore leading to even better productivity!
So far, this staff investment is proving popular, and we are already seeing the benefits to their confidence. Not only that, but we are seeing opportunities to grow the company as a result.
Since taking part in the training, Annie Francis, our Head of Finance & Analysis, has used new techniques learned. From having difficult conversations to implementing change.
Annie identified the need to recruit another member of staff in the accounts department to assist with workload. And we are happy to say we agreed with the case she put forward.
She is now leading the charge on the interview process and has created the job spec. It is brilliant to see these managerial skills shine since our latest staff investment.
Our team is highly skilled at what they do, and they remain eager to learn and develop. So, who are we to hold them back?
Morrison Freight will continue to look at opportunities for staff investment to help them develop their careers. Not only that, but to also continue to provide the high-quality services we are known for.
