April 29, 2022
There is cause for celebration at Morrison Freight HQ today (Friday 29th April) as directors Lee Steward and Darren Ryan reach a huge milestone.
Lee and Darren, who joined the company in 2002, have battled Brexit, a pandemic and a significant skills shortage over the last decade in their career.
Despite this, the last few years have been full of award wins, team promotions and an expansion of services – including their customs offering – which is aiding the smooth exporting and importing of goods for their new and existing customers.
Today they celebrate their 20th year at the company.
Commenting on the anniversary, Darren said: “The impact of Brexit and the other various obstacles we have had to face have meant the last decade has been the hardest of my career, but also the most rewarding.
“Maintaining the smooth-running of the supply chain is vital to ensure that people have food on their table and cars on the road, so we have to keep growing and adapting our services to suit the needs of our customers.
“It has been a very challenging and demanding few years of intense training and disruption, but the team have triumphed in the face of adversity and I am hugely proud of what we have achieved.”
Both Lee and Darren gained experience working across different departments during their early years at the company, so by the time they completed the management buyout in April 2015, they were well equipped to take the company forward.
During their seven years at the helm they have completed a Business Growth Programme with Cranfield School of Management and adapted the way the business operates by implementing a new management structure.
Lee added: “Having worked alongside Darren at Morrison Freight since the age of 22, I have seen first-hand how the business has evolved over the years, so to have been such a massive part in the company’s history is something I am immensely proud of.
“Many of our customers and team members have been with us since the start, so it’s great to be able to celebrate our success together.
“I am excited to see what the next 20 years will hold for the business.”
